A Road that Turned into a River
Recently, Jalan Kaligawe on where my office is located absolutely became a river. Hard rain that had been pouring Semarang for two days and two nights nonstop since Thursday evening, 2 February 2006, generated extensive flood on every single lower road, including Jalan Kaligawe. And you could imagine how terrible it would be. As the main road in the north coastal area that is connecting Semarang to other places eastward with huge burden of vehicles, Jalan Kaligawe was getting crowded and traffic jam often emmerged for sure. The flood level reached 60 centimeter or as high as human hip. The flood was occupying the lobby of my office as well. It was adult-knee high and destroying paper and electronic material such as books, CPU, and anything placed in the lower drawers.
